Se trata de no mas trata

Argentina 2016 - 2017

In Argentina, every year, about a thousand women are seized or deceived and forced to prostitution. Some of them continue to work in brothels, persuaded not to have other possibilities. Others die. Many remain desappared. Some manage to escape.
The trafficking of human beings, as defined in Art. 3, paragraph (a) of the Protocol to prevent, suppress and punish trafficking in human beings (UNODC – United Nations Office on Druge and Crime) takes different forms, while the purpose is always the same: to make money. Precariousness and poverty weaken human beings and the prey of all forms of trafficking easy becomes victims of the exploiters.
The trafficking of people arose at the end of the nineteenth century, when thousands of people, women and men, underwent the effects of large and rapid socio-economic change. The outcomes of the Second Industrial Revolution created the need to emigrate to grope luck abroad or in big cities. In overseas colonies, such as in South America or Southeast Asia, large European migrations formed huge masses of male population with unresolved sexual "urgencies", which create an increasing demand for prostitution. Traffickers of various kinds put in relation the job offered from the european migrant women, with the demand for paid sex. For this reason it was called 'white slavery'.
Argentina is currently a country of origin, transit and destination for victims of trafficking of persons with the purpose of sexual exploitation. Dominican, paraguayan and peruvian women and girls enter the country with the hope of a better future, instead they are sold to brothels. Argentine women are also part of this market. In general, it is said that the most beautiful ones are brought abroad, especially in Europe. Argentine history seems to repeat itself. Still sold women, brothels, people desappeared. Still tortured bodies.
